I used to despise one-piece swimsuits. I found them frumpy and unflattering, and I thought I’d always wear a bikini. It’s not that I wanted to show off my bod; it’s just that those awkward one-pieces clung to my stomach and hips in all the wrong ways back in high school and college. I had a black one-piece from Target that got me through all my 20s – mainly for weeks spent working at Christian youth camps.
The year after Zianne was born I knew I would need to get another one-piece since my camp swim attire was falling apart. I still feel comfortable wearing a two-piece, but as a mom it often feels easier to wear something with more coverage. One day I was shopping at Ross of all places, and a Ralph Lauren swimsuit similar to this one caught my eye. It was navy blue and $30. I tried it on and loved it. Sold.
Now the tables have turned and I can’t stop buying one-piece swimsuits. I constantly find new styles that I love. Now I’m actually stocked on one-piece suits and just had to force myself to find a new two-piece for our trip to Florida. If you had told me I’d be one-piece obsessed a couple years ago, I never would have believed you. I don’t know if styles have gotten better or if I’m just a more discerning shopper now that I’m in my 30s, but there are so many flattering, stylish one-pieces out there. Micah has cut me off from buying any more, so I’m sharing my favorites with you. I noticed a lot of readers clicking or commenting on a couple suits I posted earlier this summer, so I’m guessing there are more women out there who are thinking about becoming one-piece converts. Here are some great options…
Black with lace-up detail…
I have this crocheted number…
Another strappy black one…
This one is fun in coral…
Love this cut-out halter…

I’ve always hated them, but I feel like there’s such a cute selection this summer!
