My birthday present from Micah was getting to take a trip to Texas to visit my best friends from college. The weekend was sheer joy. When I got back, one of my friends from Phoenix said my face looked so genuinely happy in all my pictures from the weekend. And it’s true. I love my friends and I could not have asked for a more blessed weekend of fun, laughter, sharing our faith, exploring Fort Worth {and seeing how much it’s changed just in the last two years!}, and just the general antics of being around your closest friends who know your heart and history.
I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking but some highlights include:
…eating at Uncle Julio’s, my favorite Mexican restaurant on the planet. I didn’t even get a meal; I just ate handmade tortillas and queso for about an hour straight.
…game night and book club. Getting to spend two nights in a row with my best friends and their families. Both nights included some variation of The Game of Things… hilarious.
…visiting babies. So many of my friends have had babies since the last time I was in Fort Worth. It was so fun to meet these brand new human beings! And it’s such a privilege to watch my friends become moms and see the way they love and care for their children!
…driving through TCU’s campus on a school day. Gosh, those little undergrad frogs are so cute. I just might have yelled some words of affirmation at them and hung out the window taking pictures while they walked to class.
…visiting a former professor and leaving so inspired and encouraged that my long trek into academia is totally worth it.
Where the yelling and cheering for undergrads took place…
Taco night.
Babies!!!
Game night.
Game day.
We were going to go to the game, but it inconveniently got scheduled at 6pm which conflicted with book club, so we watched the game, ate pizza, and then had our book discussion. I took a lot of pictures of the television, which helped me pretend I was actually at the game.
Kristin always finishes her book club book, usually before everyone else….
Stacey finished the book while we were watching the game.
This September was our FIVE YEAR anniversary of book club. Can you believe it!?
Food truck park.
Frog fountain.
Best professor in the world. No really. I’m not just saying that. He was ranked as one of America’s top 300 professors by US World and News Report.
Dr. Pitcock let us/made us sneak into the Chancellor’s private dining hall. It was rad!
Getting crazy in TCU’s new debate chamber.
My dorm my first semester of college. Sweet memories…
I love Fort Worth.
Michelle
Looks like a fun weekend!

it looks like you had the best weekend, Jen! you do look so happy in all these pictures. also, i am super jealous that you live where it's still warm enough to wear shorts and sandals. it's warmer than usual for this time of year in MI but we're still in sweaters and boots already.

OMG! You're post seriously just got me super pumped! I'll be visiting Ft. Worth this weekend for the TCU/Iowa State game! TCU is my fiance's alma mater so I'm so excited to tour the campus and watch the game! Eeeeks! Go horned frogs!
