Every time I have a baby, I lose sight of weekly, monthly, and yearly goals for a while. With an infant in the house, it's hard for me to envision anything beyond daily feeding, clothing, and bathing my kids, going to work, and making sure the house doesn't fall apart without too much yelling on my part. But Eisley is now 20 months old. For the first time ever, I have experienced parenting a 1 1/2-year-old without being 8 months pregnant. It turns out 1.5 is a really fun age that had been partially blocked from my memory until now. Since Eisley is walking, running, communicating, and going to school three times a week, I am finally in a place where I have the capacity to make (and fulfill) some goals this year. MONTHLY (*These are ongoing practices that I try to complete monthly. Since they are not yet habitual for me, they are still goals, because I have to be intentional about making time for them.) Read one book per monthWrite one note of encouragement per monthWritten prayer for each family member each monthMonthly date with MicahEstablish a monthly hythm of archiving and cleaning out photos, videos, and texts on my phone HOUSE (*We have officially been in our house one year and hope to be here much longer if possible, so there a few projects I'd like to get done since I'm imagining we'll be here for some time.) Plant an herb gardenGet an outdoor table/eating spaceReplace vertical blinds with curtainsNew bedskirt in masterFix closet door in Zianne's room FINANCIAL Save for ten-year anniversary tripGrow family emergency fundIncrease contribution to my 401K OTHER Train children to clean up after themselves and establish expectations for choresCultivate a more organized and robust prayer lifeInstate weekly family meetingFinish writing and disperse Bible study guideCurate an athleisure section of my wardrobe KIDS (*My two older children have made some goals as well.) Last-minute Christmas shopping and Ebates… the perfect match.
I'm a little late climbing onto my soapbox this year, but I'm also a little late on my Christmas shopping too, and I assume I'm not the only one. If you are still wrapping up your holiday shopping over the next few days (pun intended) and will be making purchases online, why in the world are you not using EBATES already? Ebates is an online program that gives you cash rebates as you shop online. All you have to do (after signing up) is click one button each time you shop. Literally, it's one click. Then once per quarter, Ebates sends you a "big fat check" of your accumulated rebates, by mail or deposited straight into your PayPal account. It is the easiest money you will EVER earn. Here are just a few of the places I've gotten cash back this month, for simply doing my holiday shopping: Shutterfly... buying personalized gifts for grandmas. Etsy... ordering my Christmas cards. W3LLPEOPLE... for a clean makeup product I decided to try with a Black Friday discount. These are all thing I would have purchased anyway, but because I clicked a button three times (once for each purchase), I'll get $7 back just for these small transactions. And all these little rebates add up... In fact, in my account, they have added up to $764.00 over the past few years. And this is why I write this blog post every year. I want you to get $764 too! You can open your own account here. P.S. Why did I start this post with a photo of Vancouver BC? Because another way I use Ebates is when I'm booking travel online. Many sites such as Expedia and Hotels.com work with Ebates, so I earn money on travel expenses throughout the year. ... Read more
