Y’all, I am the world’s worst mover. It’s true. I know very few people like moving… the chaos, the expense, the inconvenience. It’s not the world’s best event, even if you are moving to an awesome new location or a beautiful new home.
But me? I hate moving. Completely loathe it. And I am terrible at it. Moving is my weakness.
The chaos and disorganization of moving make me freeze. I see piles of stuff and I don’t know where to put any of it. I see countless trips to the hardware store and Target, but I don’t want to go. While some people move fairly seamlessly, packing up well organized boxes and unpacking them in the corresponding rooms in their new residence… I do nothing. It seriously takes me a month or two to get even halfway settled.
Hey new bathroom…
So if you haven’t caught on yet, we moved this past week. We bought our own house! Hoorah! But I woke up after my first night there and looked around at the piles, and had this terrifying thought… “My baby is due in 11 weeks… I will be full term in 8 weeks… they won’t stop labor after 35 weeks…” Because let’s be honest… it takes me longer than 11 weeks to move. What am I gonna do, y’all? If anyone super organized or encouraging wants to come over and help me, I am gladly accepting volunteers. And if my sister wants to fly to Arizona from Texas {even though she was just here two weeks ago}, I wouldn’t be mad about it.
But on the upside… once we get some of the kinks worked out, I think I am going to love our new home. Right now we are having some trouble with the air conditioning not making it to back of the house, which means our bedroom is pretty much a balmy 90 degrees day and night. And our closing got delayed by a week, during which time the pool service stopped and our pool turned green, so we’ve been busy fighting algae and waiting to finally jump in our pool. We desperately need a new front door and garage door openers, but these are little things. Once we get settled, I think I am going to love our new place and bringing our baby home to it in a few months {“few” sounds better than two and a half months, right?}.
I can’t wait to swim in you…
One of my favorite things about moving is exploring a new neighborhood. Even though we only moved about 7 or 8 miles from our old place, everything changes as far as our daily landscape. Different grocery stores, different bank branch, different coffee stop… I love it all. We live in a really great location where we can get to Old Town Scottsdale super easily {our old stomping grounds from our first year of marriage}. We are near the nice area of Tempe with lots of conveniences, bakeries, cafes and the ol’ $2 movie theater! And I can jet down the freeway to Chandler and be at Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack or the world’s best Hobby Lobby in less than ten minutes. Oh, and if we want to get our country on {which we sometimes do} we are a few minutes from some of Mesa’s best dance halls and honky tonks. I should also note that Micah and I will both shave 5-15 minutes off our commutes from our new place. Win, win, win!
So if you don’t hear from me for a while, it’s because I’m drowning in boxes or having a breakdown in our extra-large pantry or I delivered my baby and we are living at the hospital because the nursery never got finished…
But eventually, we will be settled, right?
And this beautiful white kitchen makes it all worth it, right?!
This is the little lake in our community. Someday, when it’s not 118 degrees, I might walk or jog around it…

It's beautiful Jen!! I wish I was closer so I could come help. I am a moving master. I've been doing it my whole life. Not that I enjoy it, but it doesn't really bother me š
Can't wait to see more of this house!!

A pool sounds so nice with all this heat! Love that lake area you have, how fun!

Definitely with you on the hate moving thing…I start to twitch and panic and yell at people and turn into someone who is not nice. But once I find my groove {meaning the big furniture is set up so I can unpack one complete box} I'm better. Just focus on one box at a time, and keep looking at empty boxes!! š Good luck!

Yeah… I don't know anyone who likes to move. And I'm sure it's even worse while you're expecting. But don't panic. I know 2.5 months doesn't seem like a long time, but trust me, it DRAGS… You'll be surprised at how much you can get done in that amount of time.
