I flew to Seattle a couple weekends ago to throw a bridal shower for my sister. The hardest part of the whole ordeal was probably my brutal 5am flight home, because the party itself was the most laid-back, fun event ever.
I planned the party with two of Katie’s best friends and the whole thing was somehow a breeze, even though we hashed out details mainly over group text. The hostess, Whitney, had a baby just two weeks ago(!!!), yet she was willing to open up her gorgeous new home for our party. We catered food from Whole Foods to keep things simple, and we picked all the foliage from the neighbor’s yard about an hour before the shower. Don’t worry… we had permission!
We made flower crowns. Sipped blackberry margaritas. Ate quesadillas. Laughed a lot. We played the video game where the groom answers questions about the bride on camera and the bride guesses his answers. Katie got the first 4 or 5 wrong and we were slightly concerned about their relationship, but then she conquered all the latter questions and redeemed herself. Usually when I host a shower, I try to keep things rolling, so the event lasts no longer than two hours. I just feel like most people don’t want to be at a bridal or baby shower for hours on end. But this shower started at 2pm and at 6pm we were still on the couch chatting and laughing. A bunch of old high school friends reunited in one room celebrating the best girl, my sister.
